For the first time in its 54 year old history, St. John Bosco GAC was represented by our Under 14 Girls’ team at the All-Ireland Feile this weekend. The girls played five games in the opening rounds against London, Scotland, Belcoo, Shannon Gaels and Newtownbutler and ended up with three wins, a draw and one defeat. This took them into the Shield Semi-Final where they played Hertfordshire – in an entertaining game the Bosco girls came out on top and thus had reached the Shield Final. In a very tight and tense match against London whom the girls had drawn with earlier in the competition, the players gave it their all but were just beaten on a scoreline of 1 – 03 to 0 – 04 Obviously the girls were very disappointed with the result, but the club is very proud of their achievement. Many thanks to the team mentors – Liam, Davy & Maria – and to the parents who travelled down to support the girls. Also, the club would like to sincerely thank the host club Newtownbutler who looked after everybody so well and made them feel very welcome.
