Jack Mackin Tournament

On Sunday morning St. John Bosco GAC held its annual Tournament in honour of one of the club’s founding fathers Jack Mackin. The pitch was very soft underfoot in places but the morning’s weather was fine. A large crowd of players, team mentors and parents gathered in Jack Mackin Park for a morning of sport, fun and enjoyment. The Under 8 teams all played a minimum of three matches with six teams reaching the final stages and after great excitement the winners emerged – Shamrocks won the Cup, Drumgath won the Shield while Saval won the Plate competition. The presentations were made by the Mackin family. Many thanks to the referees and all the Bosco members, mentors and parents who made sure the morning went smoothly and fed all the adult supporters with a cup of tea and a sandwich! The morning was a great success and all the players went home with a Jack Mackin medal and a smile on their faces! Isn’t that what it’s all about!
